After some experimentation, some very careful winemaking and some patience, Godfrey Wines is very pleased to announce the release of the first ever POLISHED sparkling: 2009 POLISHED Vintage Sparkling
Adelaide Hills Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay
Tasting Notes
With a straw yellow colour and touches of green/grey tinges, the wine has a fine persistent bead. The nose is fresh with citrus lime and lemon juice mixed with subtle hints of confectionary cherry, creamy yeast lees autolysis characters and some rose petals to finish it off. The palate is crisp and clean, with bubbles that tickle your nose and depth of character from both the secondary ferment and the quality of fruit from the Adelaide Hills.

The following was sent out to our existing customers:
In August 2008, I released my first ever red wine and in just over 12 months we had sold out. This was due in part to your support and your excellent taste in wine! 2010 is going to be a very exciting year for Godfrey Wines. We have set out to make close to 1000 cases and the white fruit is on track to come off the vines in just over a week. I will be making another vintage of the Adelaide Hills Pinot Gris, as well as a Riesling from the Clare Valley and a barrel fermented Chardonnay, which will all be coming out later in the year.Our patience in the cellar has rewarded us with two new red wines in 2010.
The first is the release of our 2008 POLISHED Barossa Valley Shiraz Cabernet and the second is its new brother, not from the Barossa, but from the beautiful Clare Valley.
2008 POLISHED Cabernet Shiraz Tempranillo is smooth, rich and layered with the power of Clare Valley Cabernet mixed with equal components of Clare Valley Shiraz and Tempranillo. Fresh from 18 months in some very expensive French oak, this wine mixes the varietal power of Clare Cabernet with the softness of Clare Shiraz and a third layer of spice and fresh plums from the Clare Tempranillo. This wine is extremely limited as we only have 140 cases and our restaurant customers have already taken out their cut.

My great friend Cam MacKellar has recently released his first EP as a songwriter.
The EP is called Saudadé and builds on Cam’s reputation as a soundtrack composer - Americana Magazine in the UK called the music “exquisite. A high class, thoughtful collection of songs.” As you can see from the album cover, which is very cool and rustic -the music is intimate and modern folk in style, with some excellent acoustic guitar. As a bonus we are giving all our customers who order cases of our new wines, a card that allows you to download Saudadé for free. It is our way of supporting our friends and a great new artist too.
